World IBD Day (Inflammatory Bowel Disease)
Awareness day on Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The diseases come in flare-ups and often start in young adulthood, right in the middle of working life.
Idea to get started
What helps those affected day to day, without fuss: quick access to toilets, flexible hours and working from home during flare-ups, understanding for short-notice doctor's appointments. Inform managers. After a longer illness, plan the return to work through BEM (Germany's statutory workplace reintegration process).
Did you know?
Around 600,000 people in Germany live with an inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
