Cholesterol Day
Day of action by the German Lipid League (Lipid-Liga). High cholesterol does not hurt, but it raises the risk of heart attack and stroke – many people do not know their levels.
Idea to get started
Point to the health check-up at the family doctor, covered by German statutory health insurance: free every three years from age 35, including blood lipids, and once between 18 and 34. Make healthy food in the canteen or team kitchen a topic. Planning a heart health check in September? Announce it here.
Did you know?
- of men have raised cholesterol
- 56.6%
- of women have raised cholesterol
- 60.5%
In Germany, 56.6 percent of men and 60.5 percent of women aged 18 to 79 have raised total cholesterol. In the Robert Koch Institute study, more than half of those with a lipid disorder did not know about it.
