Vitamin D in Winter
Around 60% of adults in Germany do not have adequate vitamin D levels, and about 30% are deficient; the situation is particularly unfavorable in winter (RKI, DEGS1 study). Consequences: weakened immunity, fatigue, muscle pain, low mood. Workplace education: sunlight as the main source; whether supplements make sense in the dark season is something each person should clarify with a doctor. The company physician can measure blood levels.
Idea to get started
November campaign: intranet post "Vitamin D – underrated in winter". The company physician offers to measure the vitamin D blood level (25-OH-D); ask about costs in advance. No blanket recommendation to take supplements: whether to take vitamin D is something each person clarifies with their doctor. Lunchtime walks even in November – daylight does you good, even though the November sun in Germany is hardly enough for vitamin D production.

Did you know?
Only 38.4% of adults in Germany have an adequate vitamin D supply. Germany's Robert Koch Institute advises exposing the face, hands and arms to the sun two to three times a week from March to October – without getting sunburned.
